The Fund will seek to achieve its investment objective primarily through investment in a portfolio of high yield fixed rate corporate bonds that, as far as practicable, r eflects the composition of the Index. ## Investment strategy The Fund will use an optimisation strategy and therefore may not hold every constituent of the Index and may not hold constituents in the same proportions as their weightings in the Index. When sampling is used, the Investment Manager will use industry standard tools that are readily available to all investment funds em ploying a sampling strategy. All index constituents must be constituents of the Index. The Index is constructed in such a way to screen issuers for ESG standards and product involvement as defined by MSCI ESG Research. The index excludes business involve me nts including Thermal Coal, Adult Entertainment, Alcohol, Gambling, Tobacco, Controversial Weapons, Nuclear Weapons, Conventional Weapons, Civilian Firearms, Nuclear Power, Genetically Modified Organisms and Cannabis Recreational. Further, the index exclud es issuers in breach of the UN Global Compact or other notable controversies in relation to severe social or environmental impact. In addition, ESG tilt and momentum factors are applied. The index applies a 3% issuer cap and 50% sector cap. ## Fund specific risks An issuer of a bond (or money market instrument) may become unable or unwilling to pay interest or repay capital. If this hap pens or the market perceives this may happen, the value of the bond will fall. When interest rates rise (or fall), the prices of different securities will be affected differently. In particular, bond values generally fall when interest rates rise (or are expected to rise). This risk is typically greater the longer the maturity of a bond investment. While high yield (no n-investment grade) bonds generally offer higher rates of interest than investment grade bonds, they are more speculative and more sensitive to adverse changes in market conditions. Emerging markets expose investors to higher volatilit y and greater risk of loss than developed markets; they are susceptible to adverse political and economic events, and may be less well regulated with le ss robust custody and settlement procedures. The performance of the Sub -Fund is not expected to precisely match the performan ce of the index at all times and the deduction of fees and expenses means the Sub -Fund might deliver a lower total return than the index. Derivatives may be used with the aim of reducing risk or managing the portfolio more efficiently. However, this introd uces other risks, in particular, that a derivative counterparty may not meet its contractual obligations. Securities could become hard to value or to sell at a desired time and price, especially in extreme market condi tions when asset prices may be falling , increasing the risk of investment losses. Losses could be incurred if a counterparty became unwilling or unable to meet its obligations, or as a result of failure or delay in operational processes or the failure of a third party provider. The environment al, social and governance screening criteria are embedded with the index selection process, which seeks to exclude bonds issued by companies involved in certain activities. T he investment manager is not Responsible for monitoring the screening process or c onfirming that all bonds which pass the screening process are issued by companies with adequate environmental, social or governance standards. # Glossary Duration Duration can measure how long it takes (in years) for an investor to be repaid a bond's price by the bond's total cash flows. Duration can also measure the sensitivity of a bond's or fixed -income portfolio's price to changes in interest rates. The longer a bond’s duration, the higher its sensitivity to changes in interest rates, and vi ce versa. ‘Going short duration’ refers to reducing the average duration of a portfolio, while ‘going long duration’ refers t o extending a portfolio’s average duration. WAM (Weighted Average Maturity) The average time remaining until the maturity of asset s in a portfolio. Yield to maturity Total annualised return anticipated on a bond if held until it matures, assuming all payments are made on time and reinvested at the same rate.
